My son will be named Rishi. Its my prayer that he transcends time.
That he be limited by nothing. By his mother. Father or the Society.
What’s in a name?
May be it all starts from there.
A name is meant to identify one in a society.
There starts branding.
He is like that. He is like this. He can do that. He can’t do it.
He is good. He is bad. Capable. In-capable. Loving. Selfish.
Genuine. Hypocrite. Nectar. Poison. Intelligent. Dud.
We all have so much time that we don’t spare others!
I don’t know how I got a wicket through an out-swinger, when I bowled first. It just happened! And, I was branded a swing bowler. And, believe me, it somehow made me a better bowler!
I know a person who was branded too intelligent too early in life, and he really built it up to get into IIT.
And, I know a boy who drew better than his neighbour, but never made it ‘coz he never got branded or got the exposure. And the neighbour went on to become the artist of the nation!
Branding does matter!
Everyone has talent as a very small kid. Circumstances give exposure. And you start doing something if you like it. ( let’s not forget the proven theory, kids first know, only to imitate.) To be noticed and promoted. Or to be ignored.
You have to have a drive to promote yourself, consciously or sub-consciously.
Or your affluent family should promote you.
“oh.. she dances so well.. she will be the topper in our family.” This is enough to give a platform. She will either click or flop.
But, real talent always find light.
Yes, it’s true, the ones who identify their true nature, will find light.
But, may not succeed in life. A Sachin could do it. Bhaskar Pillai couldn’t.
Not because of lesser talent. It was a packaging problem. Branding was wrong!

You know for sure don’t you, that you aren’t a mediocre person?!
